The Data Acquisition
Records Transfer Electronic Dragsled system was first introduced as a
prototype advanced engineering project to representatives of business,
industry and education in February 1998. Over the next six years the
system progressed through a series of successively more advanced
prototypes until all technical challenges related to its development
were overcome and the device was released for field testing by local
area police departments.
In mid 2004 the first
production units were delivered to Australia, Connecticut, Ohio and
Oklahoma. Several upgrades were made and further deliveries were made to
the United States Marine Corps, the US Army and the US Air Force in Iraq
and Afghanistan.
Originally a Linux
based instrument, the DART LX-1 was eventually adopted by 27 police
agencies in 9 different countries.
In late 2006 the LX-2
advanced sled was brought forward for beta testing as the planned
replacement for the LX-1. Incorporating many upgrades and functions, the LX 2 was moved to
production status in April 2007 with many police and military agencies
in Canada, the USA and Australia selecting the product for their
collision analysis units.
The DART LX 2 is the
most advanced computerized Dragsled ever conceived. It has been
developed by professional crash investigators, retired police
investigators, professional engineers, systems analysts, computer
programmers and legal experts. It has been specifically developed for
police personnel expected to present technical courtroom evidence, being
simple to use or to demonstrate and explain to any layman.
